Quester 4 Trip to Hampshire County Council Film Archives 2017

Quester4 recently had an enjoyable visit to see some of the film archives held by the County Council.

The session was run by a volunteer, who introduced and commented each topic, which added to our understanding.

They wish to extend this scheme, and I have been asked if any U3A group would like to act as a guinea pig when a new volunteer is being assessed.

I quote: "The filmshows have been so successful that we are looking to extend this volunteer model to our other talks. This page gives details of our current offer http://www3.hants.gov.uk/archives/talks-hals.htm,where archivists go out to groups to give talks.

We are about to recruit a small number of volunteers to deliver talks for us and are looking for groups to host the new volunteers on their first outing.

We will train and test the volunteers, and accompany them on their first outing to make sure they are providing an acceptable level of service.

The host group would be offered the talk free, in return for being guinea pigs.

I wonder if you had contacts with other U3A groups who would be willing to host me or a colleague, plus a volunteer?

The timescale would be some time in Spring."

I suggest that any replies go directly to Heather Needham whose e-mail address is in the Newsletter, or can be contacted by telephone via the HCC switchboard.
