The Group’s walks are about 5 miles in length, and take place once a month in the morning. In addition, shorter evening walks take place in the months April to September. All walkers (who must be U3A members) are welcome. Please let the leaders know by the previous day if you intend to join the walk, and to confirm the details.

We welcome new members on all our walks. All-day walks are typically 8 – 10 miles and half-day walks about half that distance. No need to book – just turn up at the advertised starting place – but we do start on time.

Health Walks
Health Walks are available as an alternative walking option. They are free and start from various locations and have lengths and speeds for all abilities. Their leaders include four members of All Day Walkers 3: Derek Blundell, Jan Howell and Dale Greenwood in Winchester and Nick Waring in Overton. Friday 20th September

All-day circular walk of about 8 miles.

Meet at Farley Mount Car Park (the nearest one to the Mount) SU408293 at 9.45am. Morning walk 4.2 miles to lunch at The Crown Inn, Kings Somborne. Afternoon walk 3.8 miles. No stiles but up-hill at the end. Highlights include passing a rather lovely vineyard. After the walk, tea will be available at the nearby Beechcroft Farm café.

Monday 7th October

All-day walk of 6.5 miles in London.

The walk will wander through London, picking up a little of the Thames, typical west end streets, some brief stops at a few of the galleries/museums, contrasted by the London Parks and a stunning view of London from Primrose Hill. Meet at Winchester Station at 8.50am to catch the 9.18 train. Please let leader Keith Anderson know if you will be attending.

Wednesday 23rd October

Half day walk of five to six miles.

Meet at the Bear and Ragged Staff, SO51 0LB, where we will later take lunch, on the Romsey-King Somborne Road A3057 at 10.15 am for a 10.30 start. Please park in the area furthest from the pub. The walk will take us through Kimbridge, past Mottisfont and up to Michelmersh.

Wednesday 13th November

This walk is in conjunction with the AGM of the Group, which will be the subject of a separate email to existing members.
Circular walk from Shawford

Morning circular walk from Shawford Village Hall starting at 9.45am, aiming to be back to the Hall by 12.15 for group lunch and then annual meeting. Distance is about 5 miles along Shepherd's Lane in Compton, along Silkstead Lane, down to Compton village, and back to Shawford.

Start at Bramdean Common car park Map Ref. SU 626 259 at 9.30am, walk to the Flower Pots Map ref. SU 581 282 for lunch 4.8 Miles. Returning in the afternoon 3.2 Miles..
